David O. Russell Could Have Oscar Gold In His Future

Iamerican_hustle_movie_postert’s that time of year where the movie trailers that are trickling will quite possibly be award contenders and so far the crop looks extremely ripe. My goal is to spotlight one movie every few days or so lending my thoughts on the cast, directors and the brief bits that it shows along with my anticipation.

With that said the first film that has me excited is the latest from red-hot David O. Russell called American Hustle. The trailer was released earlier this week and with a massive cast, a majority of whom he has worked with before, it looks to live up to his past few contributions.

American Hustle is the story of a world class con-man that is recruited by the FBI to help bring down some of the most corrupt people in the world. While it is a work of fiction, it is loosely based on the famed AbScam hustles run by the FBI in the 70’s. With Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper taking lead roles and Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence right there in the mix, it would come as no shock to anyone if multiple award nominations come out once again for Russell and his crew whom he has proven he works with nearly perfectly.

  1. You write: “It’s that time of year where the movie trailers that are trickling will quite possibly be award contenders and so far the crop looks extremely ripe. No one who actually cares about, enjoys, or truly loves movies judges an upcoming film by its trailer. You can’t be serious with this drivel. Also, that opening sentence is so badly written that it calls into question anything you might say about a movie. You need to look at it and re-write it. You’re missing words that are required to complete a phrase, have commas missing, and make some inane conclusions. I get it, you’re a fan, but even a fan needs to be able to write coherently.

That’s the trouble with the internet, anybody with a computer thinks they’re an expert on any subject, in your case, it’s the movies. Guess what? Weak and lame writing aside, you also don’t have much movie knowledge.

    1. Yikes. I don’t know if you’re trolling or this is a genuine comment.

In any case, I feel like I should point out that they didn’t even remotely say they were judging the movies based on their trailers. The point of a movie trailer is to give the audience an idea of what the movie is about (or, in some cases, what the marketing department wants us to think a movie is about). That is literally the sole function of a movie trailer. What LoveYourMovies is planning on doing is to examine the trailers and share their thoughts on them. At no point did they say they were judging the movie based on the trailer.

As for the grammar critiques, this probably bothered me as much as it would have if it were posted on my own website. I don’t know the person/people who run LoveYourMovies personally, but it’s a free blog. You pay nothing to read it and, if they’re like me, they aren’t paid to run it. They (as well as countless other bloggers) run their site in their free time.

I honestly just don’t understand how such an innocent post could get such a rise out of someone.

      1. People all think we are trying to be the ultimate voice in movies instead of huge fans
